So apparently, aliens are amongst us? Maybe? I reeeally hope one of them’s the Little Prince, stepped off a tiny meteor with only a flower for a friend, harnessing some migrating birds to ensure his safe arrival on Earth. I don’t know that the welcoming party would be as curious and kind as our narrator the aviator sadly, but in light of David Grusch’s revelations to the US Congress this week this book does suddenly serve as an extraordinary metaphor for an alien encounter.

Before the Little Prince ever made it to Earth he himself encountered a number of alien beings, as he meteor-hopped his way around the Universe. These beings are much more familiar human archetypes but perhaps no less human, each entangled in their own worldview. And yet, and yet… still one has the presence of mind to recommend The Little Prince visit Earth, it does seem to be a popular extra terrestrial destination.

I decided to move these readings to Sundays because they have much more of a cosy Sunday feel. Today’s is an extended version to celebrate this first Sunday edition and to get you in the mood for (hopefully) a long, lazy day ahead. Plus, this particular trajectory of the book really leant itself well to staying in one piece.

This series has been going for a few weeks now so for all the previous editions, click here.

Happy Sunday!
